The Google PR world is really huge. Everyone is trying to figure out how google decides who to put first. Before I enumerate steps to take, let’s first understand why google is so popular. There are basically two things with which Google is better than the rest in the field. The first thing is speed. It takes less than a second to get millions of results on a google search. The second and more important thing is the relevance. Google is amazingly relevant in the answers it returns. Our question is, how does google know what is relevant and what isn’t? Well, that’s where our subject come in to the picture. The following are the top ten things Google uses to judge a sites importance and relevance.
1. The first and most important thing that google looks at is incoming links. The more incoming links you have the better off you are. That’s not to say that every link is of equal value. A link from a higher ranking site is worth way more than a lower ranking one. It is also very important to remember that a link from one page to the other in your own site is also considered a valid link by Google. And yes, links with a low PR are still worth at least something.
2. One good way to create links is threw article submissions. These are free and have proven to work. It might take time, but it definitely works. Just Google article submissions and you will come up with hundreds of article submission sites.
3. Another proven method is to buy links. While doing this on a steady basis usually doesn’t pay off, doing this once in a while is a good investment. When buying links, make sure to buy it on sites that allow you to choose and view the sites that will link to you.
4. Reciprocal links are good as well, though, much harder to keep tabs on. If you link to a site that has been banned by Google, Goggle will punish you for it by lowering your PR. There are some good programs out there that helps you keep track of your outgoing links so if you have time this is a good investment.
5. Make sure your site is visible by submitting to directories early and often. Don’t underestimate this step.
6. When choosing keywords, choose ones that the competition does not have a higher PR than five or six which should be pretty easy to overcome.
7. Make sure your description is not to long and as close to 100% relevant as possible.
8. Join forums.
9. Submit to social networks such as digg.com and stumbleupon.com.
10. DO NOT EXPECT INSTANT RESULTS. Give it time. Patience pays off!
